Abstract

A short structured written summary of research submitted for review and, if accepted, presented as a poster or oral talk.

Accreditation

The quality-assurance process by which a recognized body authorizes an organization to provide CME and certify credit.

AMA PRA Category 1 Credit

The most widely recognized unit of formal, accredited CME for U.S. physicians, designated by accredited providers.

CME

Continuing medical education — the accredited, lifelong learning clinicians complete after formal training to stay current.

Maintenance of Certification

A specialty board's ongoing program of learning and assessment that keeps a physician's certification current after the initial exam.

Plenary session

A conference session for the entire assembly, with no competing sessions scheduled against it.
